Palais de Justice evacuated due to false bomb threat

The Palais de Justice was evacuated on Monday afternoon due to the presence of a suspicious package nearby, according to the police.

The bomb threat was lifted Monday at 17:00. The building was evacuated two hours earlier after the discovery of two suspicious packages near a car parked near the courthouse. “After intervention of the mine clearance service, it was found that these were not suspicious packages,” commented Ilse Van de Keere, spokesperson for the Brussels-Capital- Ixelles police zone.

All of the building’s offices and courtrooms, including the court d’assis, where the jurors of the trial of Fabien Neretsé — who had been charged with the crime of genocide — had just begun, were evacuated.
