Road works in Brussels: summer will be busy!

Many road works will be held over summer: have a look at the main points, if you do not want to be blocked while driving!

Summertime has always been a major period for road works in the big cities. People are on holidays and public services and companies are closed, which makes the workers’ task easier. Brussels makes no exception to this regard and many road works will therefore be held during the two months of July and August.

It might be a bit uncomfortable if you are used to drive in the Belgian capital. This is why it’s worth being informed about the works that will take place around your city.

First of all, should you need to get inside or outside Brussels, you should choose the good way to avoid congestion. Traffic jams are quite massive on the ring on the daily basis, and it could be even worse by the end of the month. Till the 8th of July, works will be held on the exterior ring and the Tervuren’s and Wezembeek-Oppem’s slips roads will be closed. From the 9th to the 31st of July, the interior ring will also be subjected to road works.

And by the 31st of July, only two ways (out of three) will be open on the ring between Tervuren and Woluwe-Saint-Lambert.

In the Region-Brussels Capital, you also should be aware of the works that arise over summer. First of all, by the 1st of September, the “boulevard du Jardin botanique” will be closed between boulevard Jacquemin and rue Neuve, as the Rogier tunnel will be fixed. The tunnel in Porte de Hal will be subjected to road works, but it should be finished soon, hopefully before the Midi-fair starts. You will be able to drive in Chaussé d’Ixelles, from Fernand Cocq to rue de la Paix, but works will keep on going till October, so the traffic will temporary be changed.

If you work in the European neighbourhood, please also keep in mind that you only can drive on two ways on Rue de la Loi from 1 July to 31 August, as well as the “Avenue de la Joyeuse Entrée” will be closed.
