Theo Francken lashes out on Twitter after spat in Berchem Sainte Agathe

On Friday October 5th, a resident of the commune of Berchem-Sainte-Agathe expressed her disliking of the policies conducted by the Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration, Theo Francken.

“How dare you come here Mr. Francken?” she said. “You are in a commune that is not racist and that does not support your policy of asylum and immigration”.

Francken was campaigning alongside Karl Vanlouwe, head of the N-VA list in Ganshoren. To this, the Secretary of State replied that he did not need to receive any lessons in morality.

“This is not a lesson in morality but a lesson in citizenship and humanity, Mr. Francken. You are not welcome in Berchem-Sainte-Agathe,” said the resident.

Since then, Francken has made several statements on Twitter about the tense encounter.

“Veronique Oruba is her name, the opening of borders and the hatred of Flemings, this is her fame. First Ecolo, then DéFi. For DéFI, Flemish people are never welcome in Brussels. Now, I will definitely return.”
