Belgian fries declared UNESCO cultural heritage

According to VTM, Belgian fries were officially added to the UNESCO list of cultural treasures. In other words, our fries can soon be considered as UNESCO World Heritage.

In Belgium, there are about 5,000 frietkotten. In January 2014, the frietkot was recognised by the Flemish Minister of Culture as Flemish heritage. In November 2016, the three language communities of Belgium submitted a joint application for the international recognition of the fries culture to the UNESCO.
