About 1 million people took part in the Grand Départ festivities in Brussels

Around 1 million people took part in the festivities surrounding the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in Brussels last month, of whom 778,000 witnessed some part of the race itself.

75,000 people were also present at the “presentation of the teams” at the Grand Place on July 4, while 80,000 people attended Fan Park at Place de Brouckere at some point from July 4-7.

Approximately 2,000 journalists were also in attendance, representing more than 600 different media networks from 46 different countries.
