Brussels’ police a pioneer in the fight against feminicides

The council of the Brussels-Midi police zone (Anderlecht-Forest-St-Gilles) adopted anonymously a motion proposal by Ecolo-Groen, PS-sp.a and cdH, and supported by the entire police college, making prevention and combating violence against women a priority.

This motion is part of the Istanbul Convention ratified by Belgium. According to the text, a working group must develop a plan of concrete and measurable actions. In 2018, around 30 feminicides took place in Belgium.

In 2017, there were 56 complaints per day in the country for physical violence in the couple.
