‘Missing Type’ campaign of the Red Cross
The Red Cross will once again do a blood drive campaign dubbed the ‘Missing Type’. The campaign wants to highlight the disappearance of the letters A, O and B (the three letters of the blood groups) from the urban and digital environment to increase the awareness of blood donation.
By doing this, people will hopefully see the importance of donating blood. The Red Cross is struggling with declining blood supplies from low donor, especially in the summer. For the occasion, the locations for blood donation are open on Saturday 16 June 2018 from 10 am to 5 pm.
Anyone can give blood, but there are a few criteria you should me: you should be generally healthy, age of 18 up to and including the age of 70 (if your first donation was made before your 66th birthday and your last donation was less than 3 years old), Weighing at least 50 kg and you don’t pose a risk of transferring blood-borne diseases.
