King Philippe to inaugurate tram line 9 on September 1st

Her we go! The STIB has decided to officially put into service the Line 9 at the beginning of September.

This new line will give you the opportunity to go from Simonis to UZ Brussel (Arbre Ballon) in a more efficient way.

While at the initial stage it will give easier access to the mall of Jette or to the Hospital UZ-VUB, the line will later be extended to the Heysel plateau in the upcoming months.

The line will be inaugurated on September 1st, and it should be operational on the 1st or 3rd September.

To mark the occasion, King Philippe of the Belgians will inaugurate the line. He is expected to take the tram from Simonis to the Hospital, RTBF reported a few days ago.

Although the Monarchy’s website confirms that Philippe will inaugurate this new line, there’s no additional information about the protocol or the planned activities.

Philippe should then take part in the inauguration of the renewed Place Astrid, which has been subject to works for this new tram line. An underground car park has been built and the Square is therefore designed for pedestrians.

In case you’d like to have more information about all the stops and the projects linked to the Line 9, have a look at the dedicated website.
