Walibi Belgium, Pairi Daiza and Plopsaland De Panne are among the winners of the 2019 Diamond Theme Park Awards, the Oscars of amusement and wildlife parks in Belgium and the Netherlands. The results of this 9th edition were announced on 3 April during a special ceremony in the Dutch park Efteling.
Walibi and Efteling took home the most awards, respectively earning titles for best theme park in Belgium and in the Netherlands. What’s more, Walibi won in four other categories, including trophies for ‘Most Sensational Park‘ and ‘Best Water Ride‘ (Pulsar) in both countries.
Plopsaland De Panne won the award for ‘Most Child-Friendly Amusement Park‘ in Belgium, and its roller coaster Anubis The Ride won the award for ‘Best Roller coaster‘. Pairi Daiza, in the Hainaut province, kept its title as the ‘Best European Zoo‘ and also brought home three trophies in the categories ‘Most Beautiful Birth‘, ‘Most Beautiful Animal Enclosure‘ and ‘Best Animal Demonstration Show‘. Lastly, the Sledgehammer ride in Bobbejaanland, near Turnhout, was chosen as the ‘Best Ride in Belgium‘, while the Planckendael zoo in Mechelen received the title of ‘Most Child-Friendly Zoo‘.
The awards were presented after counting votes from a professional jury and from the 46,845 theme park fans who participated in the online survey.
