Heavy trucks banned from the city centre

The City of Brussels banned heavy trucks with more than 7.5 tons from the city center.

“The medieval city center is made up of small narrow streets with small turns and is not made to accommodate large trucks. Traffic signs will signal the ban to transit traffic in the center. In addition, the City is working with navigation systems that will offer alternative routes, “ explains Els Ampe, Aldermen in charge of Mobility within the City of Brussels.

The measure must, therefore, improve road safety and mobility in the city centre. It is also good news for the small streets, which are suffering a lot from heavy truck traffic.
