US mid-term elections: Democrats take the House, Republicans keep the Senate
As of Wednesday morning these are the current results:
With 28 of 35 races called for the Senate
42 seats for Democrats (-3)
51 seats for Republicans (+3)
With 369 of 435 races called for the House
186 seats for Democrats (+25)
175 seats for Republicans (-25)
Women break record
More than 84 women will hold seats in the U.S. Congress, breaking the current record.
Over 230 women, plenty of them first-time candidates, appeared on the general-election ballots.
The majority of House seats continues to be held by men.
