Irisfeest: let’s celebrate Brussels-Capital!

The Irisfeest (Fête de l’Iris) will take place this weekend in Brussels. Concerts, food, walks, visits…. Let’s celebrate Brussels-Capital!

Setting up a festival to celebrate a region is a bit surprising, isn’t it? Brussels-Capital Region is celebrating its 28th anniversary this weekend. And like every year, hundreds of Brusselians will come to enjoy one of the activities offered on Saturday and Sunday. Should you like music, walks, parties, food and parks, it is definitely something you should not miss.

It is first of all a great opportunity to discover communes you have never visited so far as well as to forget about French elections. Free guided walking or bicycle tours will indeed be organised and led by volunteers to give you an insight into Anderlecht, Saint-Gilles, Molenbeek and Forest. Should you be interested in taking part of it, please register as soon as possible, as it will probably fully booked soon.

But the Irisfeest is of course also about partying (we’re still in Belgium!). Place des Palais will host an electro night on Saturday. And some famous clubs and bars such as Fuse, Madame Moustache or Bonnefoi will also host concerts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.

If you prefer having a small walk with your family, you should have a look at what happens in Brussels Park on Sunday. As every year, dozens of Brussels area associations will indeed gather there and present their activities, from art to sport, from science to citizenship.

In case you decide to pop down the full days there, you will probably be starving. That’s not bad, as the Irish food corner will be hosted both at Place Royale and Place des Palais. You can have an Italian, Japanese, Thai or Lebanese snack, there is no way you do not find anything you like!

In a nutshell, you can find all sorts of activities in Irisfeest. If you do not know what to do on Saturday or Sunday, you therefore could spend a couple of hours there. Should you need more information, please visit the website.
